Great Getaways Begin Here!

May in Cambridge

May, May, the Wonderful Month of May and Great Getaways Begin Here. The Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester has begun public sailings on weekends. Take a two hour cruise on the Choptank and learn about oyster harvesting in bygone days as well as what is being done today to restore the oyster population. Guided tours of historic High Street are also back for the summer. Colonial costumed docents will regale visitors with stories of years' past that took place on this tree-lined street with its beautiful homes. Celebrated author, James Michener, called High Street one of the most beautiful in the country.

Blackwater Water Trails reopened April 1st and kayakers and paddlers can take advantage of the many miles of beautiful water. Consider a bike ride along quiet country roads before the full summer heat is upon us.

The Cambridge Lighthouse is also open for the season - docents are on hand weekends, or take a self-guided visit during the week.

May 13 is the day for Cambridge's Beer Festival. It will be hosted by the Cambridge Eateries and will feature wonderful beers from local breweries. Proceeds will benefit downtown Cambridge beautification!

Don't forget; Mother's Day is May 14th!

If all that weren't enough, the Mothers' Day Weekend also features the Cambridge Classic Powerboat Regatta. It's right here on the Choptank River. Come stay with us and watch hydroplanes from all over the country compete in this classic regatta that features speed and power!

The Beckwith Strawberry Festival is May 27th. The shortcake goes fast, so come early to sample luscious homemade treats and get your fill of wonderful locally grown berries

Our porches are open and ready for sitting and sipping a frosty lemonade or a glass of wine. The River breeze is with us most days, so why not trade an urban setting for our wonderful river town with its beautiful streets and historic homes? We'll make it worth your while.
