MARCH EVENTS

March is a surprisingly busy month here in Cambridge and in Dorchester County. It's also your last chance for lower winter rates. For you serious birders, this is your last chance before warmer weather sets in for real, and our now abundant waterfowl take to the flyways for their nesting grounds in Canada and the Arctic . For now, there are thousands of Canvasbacks, Redheads, Widgeons, Snow Geese and Tundra Swan still here, but March will be your last chance until next year. In addition, Blackwater will celebrate Eagle Fest on March 11th. This all-day festival will celebrate not only the bald eagle, but all birds of prey.

Harriett Tubman Opening

March 10 marks the official opening of the new National Historic Site and State Park. It's adjacent to the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge - just a few miles from here. It's dignitaries only on March 10, but the general public will have its first chance to view the history and travails behind this incredible woman's many journeys forged on the Underground Railroad.

OYSTERS AND MORE

Check out our wonderful downtown restaurants for fabulous oyster dishes while the "R" months are still with us. You can savor these delectable bi-valves at Jimmie and Sooks Raw Bar and Grill, Canvasback Restaurant and Irish Pub, Bistro Poplar, and the High Spot. Choptank Sweets are the variety you will find here in Cambridge- yum!)

SHOPPING AND GALLERIES

Our downtown stores are putting away winter wear and getting ready for spring. On Second Saturday, shops will be open late with new spring merchandise and enticing sales.

We all know about the hike in gas prices, so think about a short getaway to the Eastern Shore - Remember, from Washington, Baltimore, and Philly we are an easy and economical escape. A tank of gas will get you here and home again. Here at the Inn, winter rates are still in effect until April 1, and REMEMBER, Great Getaways Begin Here!
