February Events

Got the mid-winter doldrums? Consider a weekend or mid-week escape to the quiet luxury of a beautiful inn on the Eastern Shore. That's where the Tundra Swan and Snow Geese head when life in the far north gets too cold. They're here on our River and nearby Blackwater Refuge, as are Canvasback Ducks, Widgeons, Blue Bills, and others. Bundle up, take a brisk walk, and return for a glass of wine or a cup of hot chocolate in front of a crackling fire before heading out to dinner at one of our great restaurants. Browse in a gallery, visit a museum, or just sit in front of the fire with a good book.

And don't forget Valentine's Day! That's Tuesday, February 14 this year; we're booked, but the next weekend is Presidents' Weekend. You could celebrate late this year with an extra day to relax and treat that someone special in your life to some quality time away. It's all here at the Inn where Great Getaways happen every day.

LOOKING AHEAD TO MARCH! On March 10, the National Park Service will open the Harriet Tubman Visitor Center and State Park. It has been years in the making, and celebrates this courageous woman's life and the story of her incredible and perilous journeys leading family and friends to freedom. The Underground Railroad began here in Dorchester County, and this new national historic site is a short drive (twelve miles) from Cambridge, and adjacent to the National Blackwater Wildlife Refuge - where, also on March 10, the Refuge will hold its annual Eagle Fest! History Buffs and Nature Lovers make your reservations early for this extra special weekend!
